Water for the school  is obtained from a ground water well on the farm. and manually transported to the compound by auxiliary staff and often the children themselves.  Through the generous contributions of sponsors in the UK we have been able to purchase a water pump but additional infrastructure is needed to enable a proper pipe borne system.

Communications at the school have improved drastically in recent years with the ongoing penetration of mobile phone networks in Ghana. Most teachers have their own phone. Basic internet has also reached us via GPRS. However, the school is still seeking resources to equip classrooms and offices with the necessary hardware to enable children and teachers to access the new information technologies.

Buildings have been put up at KFS progressively since its inception in 1996.   The school began in a bamboo and thatch structure but today has three permanent brick classroom blocks. Other buildings include toilet blocks, the school canteen and living quarters.

Power at the school has been supplied by the national grid since 2nd March 2010. Up until that time we had been reliant on a generator.  Full electricity connection was facilitated by the generous assistance of sponsors in the UK, who donated the necessary finance for the infrastructure to be installed. Electricity means we are better able to run evening classes and we hope the full ITC curriculum will soon to be introduced at the school.

Transportation at the school remains a challenge. Given the remote location of the school we depend on reliable transport to move small children and teachers in and out everyday. The school bus we had was scrapped due to age and extreme wear and tear.  We are now dependent on a hired commercial bus that is reliable but very expensive.  Fundraising is underway to raise money for a new bus.
